| In 1986 Marc Jacobs designs his first collection with his own label. Being outstanding student at Parsons School of Design he already has been awarded a couple of times including Design Student of the Year. There is no wonder that a year after the release of his collection The Council of Fashion Designers of America gives him the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. He is the youngest designer ever to be awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute. The line Marc by Marc Jacobs is introduced in the spring of 2001. This year CFDA gives him 7 awards for his work, among those awards are Womenswear Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year and Menswear designer of the year. The company opens its first free-standing European store in Paris at The Palais Royal in January, 2006 and followed with a London location in February, 2007. In the Spring of 2007 a full line of children’s wear, aptly named Little Marc Jacobs was launched. The company has expanded to more than 100 stores worldwide.
